Number withheld, Asian accent difficult to understand, said she was doing a survey, said I was on TPS = she said it didn't apply to them, avoided questions, asked how she got my name = electoral register, asked for her number said she was using a computer not a telephone!!! asked for her address = she hung up.

On 10/7/14 I received a call from a woman with a heavy Chinese accent called Mary who said she wanted a minute of my time, but I could barely understand her and she would not get to the point. She was obviously using a script because each time I interrupted her she would just start from the beginning: “Hello, my name is Mary..” on the seventh or eighth time she introduced herself I shouted back “I know your name – fuck off!” and put the phone down. I still don’t know what the call was about!

When asked who was calling at 7.20 pm for a long deceased person (not me) whose phone number we inherited, Michael said he was calling from Social Talk and just wanted a minute of my time. I said I don't have time, that he had just woken up my sleeping child, and wanted the phone number and address information removed from their files, he hung up. From initial background noise this call must have come from a call center.

Call from Social Talk, came up as private caller on screen, but from other comments same group. Woman with very heavy accent asked for me by name, said she wasnt selling anything just wanted me to answer a few questions. She then asked me to confirm my address. I hung up. I'm on TPC, and I'm not published on electoral roll nor in phone directories. Worrying.

This number shows up on my phone as Incoming Call. They must phone me at least twice a day. On the odd time I have picked the phone up, I say nothing, but what's the point as they just hang up anyway. I think these people(in my opinion) are deliberately phoning numbers just to hang up, maybe it's just to get kicks as they know it will be annoying/upsetting/frightening to the people. Please someone get this stopped.

Several calls despite being on tps. I have a chronically disabled husband & often cannot get to the phone. When I do manage it they hang up! I really wish something could be done about these calls (I don't want to set my phone to bar withheld numbers because a lot of the nurses that visit use this facility)

Have had a few calls from this number now. Most recent one when he asked if he could speak to me by name I replied "no you can't" and he hung up. The number he called has never been listed, is never given out to anybody but family or very close friends and is registered with tps so how do these people get a number like this to be associated with a name?

TPS? I'd hope it's unlikely, and that they only distribute numbers without names as their "do not call list". Otherwise, someone you've legitimately given the number to has sold it or had their list hacked it only has to happen once and you'll be bedevilled forever. -

Woman phoned and knew my name and address. Said she was conducting a survey. I asked her various questions and said I was with the TPS and I should not be called. She said they got their information from the Electoral Roll (I opt out of this when I complete the local authority's form) and that the PTS allow surveys to be conducted. I asked about her company and where it was based. At first she said Southampton then changed this to Hampshire. When I asked more questions she hung up. Sounded like an Asian accent.

The person who called, spoke English with an accent, said she was not trying to sell anything but merely conducting a survey. She seemed to know both my name and when I asked her how they have these information, since I'm registered with TPS, she got evasive and asked if I could just answer her some questions. I told her that I don't see the point in answering her questions if she isn't answering mine and hung up. But still I'd really like to know how they got these information.
