Judging by the delay between me answering the call and the caller coming on the line, I should think they are probably using an automatic dialler, which connects to an agent only after the call has been answered. The caller was a man, with a southern English accent and a good telephone manner. He claimed to be from the Medical Alert Centre and suggested that I may be eligible for a free alert pendant. He got as far as asking me whether I was over 50, before I told him that I wouldn't be answering his questions and hung up.
