They call my landline fortnightly, even though I'm registered with TPS. They say they're calling about an accident I had recently, but when I tell them I haven't had one (that I don't even drive!), they either insult me or just rudely hang up. It's really bothers me because I work from home, so it disrupts my work and sometimes they call when I'm sleeping. Since it's a landline, I haven't figured out how to block them -- any advice/help would be appreciated!

These people ring off gumtree every single day, cold calling, harassing people to get their details for a scam fraudulent non existent company once they receive your name address or bank details you will lose all money in your accounts. I kept them on the phone for 20 mins until they gave up the company is located in Manchester India and Pakistan avoid at all costs. Its a scam that needs to have these people beat up and punished till they realise what its like to be vulnerable.

This outfit is a terrible bunch. It's been three months of consistent calls with a vast array of ploys into luring innocent hard working people out of money. Have spoken to the head office in kent several times about the use of their name as a way of convincing people of their trustworthiness, fortunately my wisdom served me better. My real worry is those who are naive or elderly or unaware of these types of scams, they remain vulnerable. More should be done to protect people from continuous harassment.

Guy with very strong Indian accent, calls within seconds of me posting an advert on Gumtree. Said he was from Victoria Insurance and that it was about my recent minor road traffic accident I reported a couple of days ago. Told him I've never had an accident and hung up. Number now blocked. This number rang my landline, but I've had this number call my mobile on number on occasions until blocked on there also

Just got call from this person spoke with english accent asked about car I was selling on gumtree only posted seconds before phone call then asked about accidents and I hung up had two calls this week off same number one before got straight to the point asking about an accident i had. I've never had one in my life I challenged him and he hung up. My guess there getting numbers off gumtree ads for cars. Number now blocked.
Supergirl replied 12/4/15, 4:28 PMExact same thing just happened to me! Just posted a car for sale on Gumtree. Told me he was from Victoria Insurance, had a strong barely understandable Indian accent, asked me about my recent accident. Which I haven't had. Hung up. -

He tried to call me.It didn't get through.I gave him a short call to wait for the call back.He did it.I asked him to introduce himself.He started to tell me his story claiming to be a solicitor.He accused me to be involved in a car collision...so i turned upom him to say that i had done reserch on him to find out that he harrases people.Also i asked him who gave him the right to use my number to do it and how he got to it to accuse me to be involved in that accident.He hung up on me.....

Called me about a car accident ...well a hit and run. Started going on about compensation and then he asked if I had whatsapp!!!! And said he's going to message me tonight!!!! I was like no you are not!!! When I asked to speak to his manager he asked if I was going to report him. Then admitted he has no manager. I told him if he contacts me through a private number I will contact the police.

Got a phone call off this number telling me I have had an accident in a car which I currently have advertised for a friend on gumtree and has never been registered in my name. When I told him I don't own the car he was talking about and it has never been in an accident he became very rude and told me I am irritating and I must not have a girlfriend
Isabelle replied 7/16/15, 4:42 PMI received a phone call from this number about 10 minutes ago. The opening line was "I believe you have had a car accident". I explained that I haven't. He asked me my age and for my personal number as I was on my work number. He then asked me to be his friend because I "have a pretty voice". He said he was ringing from a solicitors in Manchester called MGA. I told him that he was very annoying and he kept asking to meet up with me so we can be friends. When I told him I was 18 years old, he said "I like the young ones". It sounded like there was a fight going on in the background the whole time of this phone call and 3 of my colleagues who were listening were horrified at what was being said!

Foreigners have called 6 x going on about an accident I had, had - funny thing is I don't have a car - lying b@@@@@@ds advised them every time I am registered with the telephone preferential service, and will be contacting them to advise.

Wanted me to claim compensation for injury sustained in a car accident. The man sounded foreign and had to repeat himself several times before I could understand him. I told him neither I nor anyone in my household had had an accident, he started to insist but I hung up.

The person calling from this number was clearly ringing from a call centre and had an Asian name which I didn't catch. He stated that the company name was MTA Solicitors and that he was calling about a recent car accident. This is clearly a scam call as I have not had a car accident.

Kate replied 7/4/14, 11:09 AMMale, called himself David Ross, a solicitor with a firm called Silverbeck Rymer. Had a very 'cocky' voice, did not even try to sound professional, said he was working on behalf of my insurers after I had a minor car accident. He had all my details, address and place of accident, etc! He tried to convince me to make a false injury claim so that I could receive upto £4000.I thought surely my insurer would inform me beforehand if someone was going to call me. I checked with my insurer and was informed there had been no need to instruct a solicitor to act on my behalf. When the man called back the next day I first confirmed his name and name of firm, he encouraged me to make a false claim and talked in a condescending manner to which I told him I didn't like him talking to me that way. He still tried to convince me, almost shouting. I told him not to raise his voice to me. He replied he did so as he thought maybe I couldn't hear properly! I told him that I could hear him alright if he sounded professional enough! And that I had spoken to my insurers and they had not instructed any solicitors to act on my behalf, that I had passed on his name and number to them and they would forward his information to their fraud defence solicitor. I told him I had reported him to the police, the fraud and internet crime department who would pass his details to the insurance fraud bureau. I shouted at him not to call me again as if he did I would report him to the police for harassment! He was swearing and cursing but I was shouting over him but I heard him call me a f___b___! as I finished speaking (haha!). I went to tell him 'and you call yourself a solicitor!' but HE hung up! Hahaha!

Do not entertain these calls, just cut off and block the number. I have had these types of numbers ring me everyday since I advertised my car on Gumtree. First time a mobile number claiming to be a soliciter and asking about a car accident, I told him I'd never been in a car accident. A few minutes after that I had a woman phone from an 0161 number, I said you need to stop phoning people from gumtree and hung up, she called back cut off and blocked. They've tried again this morning. They are trying to phone from different numbers everytime I block one number, a similar number phones mme the next day. I will continue to block until they run out of phones to ring me from.
