The caller alleged he was calling from O2, asked me how much I top up per month and got very aggressive when I wouldn't tell him and asked why he was calling. If this really is an O2 number, their level of professionalism is shocking.

Just spoken to O2 regarding this number and the calls my wife had been getting. They confirmed that the number does belong to O2 and is not a scam, it is their Customer Research (for want of a better description) calling to ensure she was getting the right deal for her and to see if she wanted to upgrade, so I suppose they re Market Research/Sales. Perfectly safe to answer. If in doubt, just don't give answers to questions you feel uncomfortable about.

This morning I got a call from this number asking if I was happy with my current phone deal.
Coincidence? I think not.
I always remind them that my current deal was previously recommended by them and then ask, if it can be bettered will they offer me compensation for giving me bad advice in the first place? -

The young man claimed to be from O2, or at least selling services supplied by O2. The guy was a "bit common" I didn't feel he was sure of what he was saying. I did decline all his offers but looking back, maybe I "trusted" this guy too much, fool me. This could have been a total scam, a trickster but no harm done.

Answered the call the first time even though not fully convenient as 0161 looked legit. Was obviously a selling call but the caller wanted to be more insistent so I hung up. Two unanswered calls later checked this site which confirmed my suspicions. First time I have had O2 pass on data as far as I know but will complain to them on this one.

I doubt this is a genuine O2 number. Called today and claimed to want to discuss my tariff with O2. When I asked what the details of my current tariff were he claimed he could not tell me because of "data protection" Not surprising really as I'm on pay as you go !! SCAM SCAM SCAM

I do not give out a mobile number since the ban on using it in a vehicle, but good luck with trying me at home. It took me 12 times to send a simple text as for a call. unless they erect a tower, I doubt they will get an answer. Been there with this before and it would have to be a free G4 phone and cheaper calls to persuade me. Even Wifi is a joke. 0.9mbs.

O2 sales and marketing team, very polite, new about my current deal with 02 and offered me free stuff.
Call is routed through marketing head office in Manchester, but operators are based in O2 offices around the UK,

This number displaying as being in Manchester, keeps calling my phone. Two calls yesterday, 3 calls today. A machine is calling but if you answer you will be connected to a person for unsolicited promotion and other bullshit. Block if you can, if not, just don't bother answering. This is aggressive telemarketing.

So I answered in Japanese for a laugh..... and I did indeed laugh.... he sounded very confused, asked me to speak in English and when I repeated "Sorry, I do not understand" in Japanese, he sounded flustered and said he'd give me a call back another time... but he'll still get it in Japanese XD be interesting if he does call back XD

This number belongs to a company called Intelling Ltd based at Wythenshawe (Manchester) and Belfast. An O2 customer service representative confirmed that it is an O2 number, or rather that O2 uses this company to sell its services.
The Managing Director at Intelling is a chap called Phil Morgan. You can contact Phil (and I suggest you do) by calling 0161 902 3721. My advice is to continue calling that number until you are put through to Phil.
As far as I am aware, O2 is breaking the law by providing personal information to this company. This is because Intelling is not part of O2; it is a third party company. (Please correct me if I'm wrong.)
The bottom line is, whether illegal or not, this company (and others like it) are a bloody nuisance and the people who run them don't care. If the only way to fight back is to annoy them in kind, so be it.
So get on the blower, and give dear Philip a call. I'm sure he'll be polite and accommodating!
Rude as to forcing me to take direct debits when I have said no and asking why I dont want to and I agree with penny a so called manager 'webby' has rudely tried to persuade me after cutting the call on him they persistently kept calling back and I have now had to block the number calling me. He sounded like he was drunk and tried to sound professional and ended up sounding like an illitrrate piece of shit with the word 'and erm' shoved into each sentence sounds like a scam to me and I asked them why they dont know that I am on contract since o2 have my details already and webby still tried to sell a second contract like he was going to pay it people have other priorities webby go fuck yourself and dont ring again, as penny said, weasel
