Called and left voicemail stating they were Scott and Co and to call back. I did and they said they could not find an account under my number. Although they left my name in voicemail. Not believing its Scott and Co. Maybe scam trying to confirm my number to my name.

Didn't make clear they are a debt collection firm and have asked that they write with details.
Not necessarily a scam, just some shady practices. -

male with a first name only asked for address and said to call on BEHALF of the (Edinburgh) Council.
He was not aware that I moved and wanted to continue CONFIRMING personal data.
Because the caller didn't want to say company and reason, I asked them to write me a letter. -

Asked for me by name, then asked me to confirm the address, which I declined to do, as the phone number wasn't a local one.
Her response was, 'we have to disguise it so people will answer...'

Caller lied saying they were calling from fife council. They asked me to confirm my details, I declined explaining I didn't believe it was a fife council call and they requested I call them back on the number they were calling from. Shady practices to get people to talk to them.
