This is simply a text message service for people who are daft enough to send a text to your landline. The text might have come from anyone though so use caution. Mine today was from a courier delivery company who are obviously stupid enough to send a text to a landline!

Called us this am(2/3/18) at 7.40 and again at 8.30 but as we have a BT guardian call blocker phone our phone did not ring out. We were expecting a delivery from Harrods via 48 hour Parcel Force. Delivery arrived at 9.30am and delivery man said that Parcel Force sends automated messages VIA TEXT which ask you to press a number to get delivery time slot notification. So rather than block the call, people should add the number to their preference list if they want to get advance parcel delivery time but don't know why Parcel Force doesn't use email like DPS.

I never reveal my mobile number to companies I deal with, only my landline number. Therefore if they need to text me with details of delivery times (for example) it will come through to my landline as a recorded SMS from this number (or an equivalent service number). It's a very useful service which enables me to receive a few essential texts, without having to open myself up to receiving endless spam on my mobile. If other people find that there is no genuine message when they answer calls from this number, it's not the fault of the message service, but of whoever sent an empty text to the landline in the first place - probably inadvertently. It's a pity that the 'Type of call' categories don't include 'SMS delivery', because that's what this is.

9 calls in 2 weeks even with the number logged on the call blocker and they still get through with this irritating massage about a supposed SMS message which can’t be recovered. Whoever this is needs shooting ! I eventually called BT and asked them to block the number from ever reaching me.

Unknown and pointless too because the answerphone message merely says "to listen to the message again..." etc but no actual message!
If it IS a parcel company trying to communicate (as a post on here suggests) then they are rubbish at it because no message and no identity of caller!!!
Also if a text translator then also rubbish because no need on my home phone as it receives texts just fine!
So, all told...as annoying & utterly pointless as spam...BLOCKED -

Was an SMS to landline. The "message" left was only a few numbers and nothing else. Cannot be a genuine call.
Tracey replied 12/18/17, 2:36 PMIt’s OK! It really is a text message that someone sent to my landline accidentally! Pressed 1 to hear the message that had been sent as a text. (And after that there’s a menu to allow you to hear it again or save it or delete it.) NOT a scam! Have pressed 1 before too and have not had any big bill as a result although not sure if there is a nominal charge. Probably only the caller pays for the text? Anyway, I’d rather hear the message that the sender thinks they’ve sent to my mobile - could be urgent or something that causes a misunderstanding if you don’t get it and reply! So don’t fret peoples! You can press 1 quite safely!scam buster replied 4/26/18, 3:51 PMCalls my home phone and gave options to listen to a msg sent via sms delivery service about a delivery being ready to pick up, every order I have placed to buy online uses an email service to confirm delivery pick ups so how this number got my home phone is miraculous, further more anyone claiming this is a safe number is more than likely part of the scam, no delivery service texts you through a landline if you have not ordered anything using that number, register all your numbers free with Tps to make these calls illegal once registered for 3 months -

Phone rang and answered within 3 rings and informed there was an sms text message. Listened to message except there was no message. Thought about ringing the number to see who had called but found it is a premium rate number. Suggest this is a SCAM to get you to callback at a premium rate.

Bernie reported TEXT fron Parcelforce with the number 03333440000 as Harassment calls
Parcelfarce.
Woke me up at 7:10 am on Christmas Eve.
Had gone to bed at 5am after driving back from Scotland, not pleased.
Stupid SMS message to tell me that a box would be delivered sometime in the afternoon, at least 7 hours after the call.
Online tracking is not sufficient for these fools.
I checked with BT 0800 587 5252 that I had registered (years ago) not to received SMS on my landline.
Option still active but Parcelfarce don't use BT.
... <expletives galore>
