A woman asked about 'Free Cavity wall insulation', allegedly from British Gas. Just did not seem right. We're with TPS, and now I'm annoyed. She was not aggressive, or pushy, but I do not want random people ringing me at home.

The guy on the other end said something about being from the Football pools company, so I'm sure it was Vernons like someone else had reported (they likely have my number from joining their casino ages back I can only assume)
Since I haven't used them in years no idea why they are calling since I've never done the Football pools EVER and have no plans to! I told him I wasn't interested and just hung up. -

These numbers are provided by "reputable"service providers and are used (mostly) by independent marketeers on commission from large companies (e.g. BT, Sky, British Gas, etc.) to push products. I do NOT understand why TPS, ICO, or anyone else seems to give a proverbial **** about the nuisance these people are when you have taken every precaution to avoid them.

This call came through earlier, disconnected call first as was not interested in dealing with unknown numbers, then it rang back again, I got mad with the woman on other end who said she was from some football pools and when I challenged her about how she got my number she skirted the issue and said she was calling everyone in my area of Nottingham, I got hostile with her to which she tried to stop me from panicking and told her she was going to be reported for nuisance calling, and told her I am on the TPS register, Blocked the number and reported it to ICO.

I subscribe to The Economist, and renewed my subscription very late this year, a few days after the expiry. I finally picked up this call after several days and they said they wanted to know if I would renew my Economist subscription. I said that I already had, and they said "Oh, let me check my new system. Oh yes, you have, that's ok then." and that was all. A little odd, but seems like the Economist gives them the opportunity to salvage some lapsed subscriptions.

Several attempts to call over a number of days. Caller came across as unprofessional, and spouting rubbish - did not appear to be completely clear on why she was calling (though appeared to have harvested my number from a long-lapsed source). Came across as a deeply untrustworthy blagger, probing for details and trying to create an opening for marketing / similar junk.

Had a call from a woman today with the area Sheffield,she claimed to be from simply be which is the only reason why I continued the phone call as I was coincidentally shopping online on their website as they called, she began by asking me if I was the account holder and to confirm the first line of my address which didn't sound so dodgy to me at the time as I have an account with them and assumed the were security questions and then she told me my own date of birth which is quite worrying. She then went on to offer me life insurance which I found pretty hilarious as I thought why would a online clothes shopping site give me life insurance? I kindly refused and she asked if it was because I felt pressured with it over the phone (probably so she could try and get an email address to send me spam or a virus too, after all she's already got my address to send spam too!) Now feeling like an idiot for accepting the call as I never answer numbers I don't know, we all get caught out eventually I guess!

Just called by this number - the woman on the other end was not making much sense, but purported to be from Nat West or an Affiliate called WorldPay. Asking about ac credit card machine on contract. I told her I could not make head nor tail of what she was selling, so she rang off. I hate cold callers - but I find it is best to ask them lots of questions without answering a single one!

From reading the comments here I can confirm that both myself and my partner have received a call from this number both within a day of each other. We have a SimplyBe AND Jacamo accounts, however when we answer the call there is no one there. On calling back we are given the option to remove our numbers from the database. I can't confirm if it definitely is SimplyBe and Jacamo but I wouldn't be surprised if they had passed on our details to 3rd parties...

Caller claimed he was from Betfair Casino, wondering why I havnt played for a quite some time and if I log in to my account ill find a free bonus waiting, so I did and ofcourse there was no free bonus and when I contact betfair they claim to have nothing to do with this number, very strange all around.

I don't answer calls on my phone unless I know the number, so when I received a call from an unknown number I never answer them until I've googled them, which lead me to here. I decided to answer, assuming it was a going to be a nuisance call or a scam.
When the girl asked for {name} I asked how she got my number she then said she was from simply be and I proceeded with caution, she asked to confirm my account information which I immediately told her "I can't divulge personal information over the phone unless I contacted yourselves directly, as the number you contacted me on is known for nuisance calls and scams". She thanked me for my time and told me my name is off their database.
