Had a call stating that their database indicated that I had worked in industry. They could not tell me who I worked for . I strung them out as long as I could then told them I worked for the fraud squad., he soon hung up.

Asked to speak to my mum (who has never ever had my phone number). Saying they were from the National Work Advisory or something similar requesting my mum's work history. They can't have been that interested though as they didn't ask for a contact number for her.

Once I knew the call was about hearing loss, I just pretended to be deaf and kept saying I couldn't hear him. He soon hung up.

I'm getting a lot of these calls lately. Isn't it against the law now? I'm sure I heard on TV it was going through parliament.
Anyway the guy was a complete numpty and wouldn't take no for an answer till a few expletives sored out of my mouth.WQQDY replied 7/25/14, 11:53 AMI've decided next time they ring I will admit to having bad hearing due to industrial noise.
I'm going to lead them on until I'm satisfied I've wasted their time too.

"Industrial Workers Union" scam from Derby had been ringing me daily for around three weeks. Finally gave in to temptation and picked up. "We're totally legit" and "a government body" the man said. Basically boiled down to cold calling people on a tradesman database looking to get money out of past employers for supposed hearing loss. These people are the scum of the earth and the reason this country is going down the tubes. Get a real job before it's too late! Don't trust anyone that asks for more details if you don't know who they are!

I am 77 years and and had a call regarding my hearing. I was asked questions about my working life, I was in submarines and also in engines rooms in a bank. Throughout this I had regular checks by all my employers. I received an apt for a hearing test which I will not attend.

They are based on wharf industrial estate in bury, Manchester and Blackburn. The staff who call have no idea, nor choice of who they ring as the system selects a number at random from their data, and only when the line opens do they see your name and address etc. They are legitimate in terms of what they are offering (a free hearing frequency test at your local football club/hotel) however, if you will receive any money should a claim be successful is questionable. I would string them along and agree to the hearing test (so the employee simply doing their job will receive a bonus) but not waste your time turning up (so the scum bags in charge are out of pocket). I have just recently left the branch in blackburn - couldn't stand the arrogant immigrants in charge!

Keeps harassing me for years, asking for a Mrs Glynn. I have made the point repeatedly that she is unknown to me (true) and have asked to be removed from their register which I was promised would happen twice! They are still bothering me. Idiots
tim replied 2/6/15, 8:43 PMIf you get a good un they will jot your number down and hand it in at the end of the day for manual deletion from the system under the pretense that you are TPS even though even if you are a TPS all TPS will do is contact and make enquiries into why you have not been taken from the system... plus there is ways that they get your number from a variety of sources mainly marketing data purchased and hopefully only rang once as it is counter productive to ring numbers that have already been contacted... and you can come in more than once on data so deleting you sometimes doesn't help no matter how many times they do it... especially for people that give their number out. -

Company called something generic-sounding like "UK Data" (can't remember the exact name) asked to speak to my husband saying he may be eligible for compensation "from his earlier work in industry". When I said I knew he has never worked "in industry" and asked what job they were referring to, he got quite arsey and aggressive. When I told him this was an unsolicited call and he was breaking the law as we are registered with the TPS, he replied arrogantly that they were "TPS approved" - if they are, they need their approval stripped from them immediately for aggressive and unsolicited marketing purposes. 2 calls so far, if they call again there will be trouble!

The girls that they use for the clinics are those that either look the part or are just so bad at dialling that they feel sorry for them and throw them a lifeline. Maybe whoever you spoken to they were trying to soften the blow for you as the people that do the hearing tests are trained audiologists... they have to be as any hearing test they give you if you are told you have hearing loss by them it goes onto your medical notes and you have two years to get your money for your loss. -

Phoned my mobile this morning.Looks like from previous comments, they are saying they are from the same area of the country as the person being called, in this instance the south west. Said my name had been put forward for a payment as I had in the past worked in a factory with noise & machines. He could NOT tell me who had put my name forward, which factory I had worked at or when.As I've never worked in a factory I dragged the call out as long as poss before he hung up.

I live in Plymouth but judging by other comments, they were calling from Darlington. Asked her for name of company and she said Industrial Workers Office. I gave them an earful and hung up. Let's see if they call back.

Just had a call from someone who tried to make me think my hearing was damaged by not answering several times and then whispering his name....Steven - from the National Hearing Company. I told him where to go and I think this is one of the dirtiest attempts to get business I have ever come across. Can't something be done about people like this....short of going to Darlington and showing him the Red Card?

A scummy telesales company. They are a legal claims company trawling for business for people whose hearing has been damaged by working in noisy environments. It appears they may have had their database supplied by "Perfect Preferences", but in any event they ignore the TPS database, and as such their cold calls are ILLEGAL.
