Got a call after getting texts from HSBC asking me to confirm transactions on my card and I replied "N" and I did not recognise them. Call came about 10 mins after replying to text. They read out part of my info and asked me for the second half for security check (e.g. told me first half of postcode, asked me to confirm second half) and went through transactions. When I confirmed they were fraudulent they said they'd send me a new card to my address and read my address out to me to confirm.
All seems legit. Glad HSBC is good at catching fraudulent transactions. -

Left a voicemail saying they were HSBC Fraud and said there was a problem with my credit card. I rang my usual telephone banking number and was advised it was a legitimate number and confirmed that my credit card had been compromised

Calling to "verify transactions", said they were from "the bank" and were working until 10pm "UK time" as if this needed clarifying. They called back a 3rd time and hung up as soon as I answered. If this is legit it is definitely not something I'd get involved in. Ignore and call the number on your card.

Received a call. Message left saying they were from the HSBC fraud team. That said, I could hardly understand most of the message as the callers English was so poor. I phoned HSBC customer services using the number on my bank card. They confirmed nobody from the bank had called me and that it was NOT a call from their company and that this was NOT one of their numbers. I’ve read all the positives on this site so am left confused!

If this really is HSBC's fraud dept they are staggeringly incompetent and l am by no means convinced that it is. Question of whether there has been fraud on my account remains unsolved - l was unable to give the exact year that l opened my account - approx 40 years ago - and so failed my 'telephone security check'. May be genuine, but they asked me to repeat the same information re my account so many times that l was suspicious, and would urge caution

Received a call from this number but not picked up and a voice mail said I need to contact HSBC Fraud Line. Seconds after the call received a txt from HSBC asking to contact this number which is Fraud Prevention line. Called number on the back on the card and HSBC confirmed attempts to contact me due to declined online transaction (my daughter was trying buy something for the Roblox game). She's grounded BTW. Well done HSBC, they response in 30 minutes after decline. Impressed.

I recieved two calls from this number saying that thay were HSBC fraud dept. I refused to give my details so they said ring the number on the back of the card. Instead I rang a number on HSBC website under security and was told nothing was highlighted or noted on my account and not to worry. Then I googled the number and saw all these comments, so I rand the number on the back of the card instead as a double check and was informed that fraud had indeed been trying to contact me. They put me through and someone has been trying to use my credit card details on various online sites today. Card now cancelled and new one on its way. Thanks HSBC and all you who have left previous comments.

Despite checking out the number on this website and seeing that it really was trustworthy (thank you to all the previous posters for that!) I nevertheless did what many advise, and rang the number on the back of my card to make sure.
As I had had problems with my account in updating an online subscription only half an hour before the call, I was already alerted there might be a problem, but I was reassured by HSBC that I was sensible to double-check by using the number on the back of my card. They sorted the problem out via their fraud department very quickly once I was connected to them.
However, in essence, the number is genuine, but if unsure, go through the number on the back of your card.
