Text says I have a voicemail but I thought it was strange as I hadn't received a missed call. Text says to phone "222" to hear my voicemail message. I didn't do it as I looked back at genuine texts from EE voicemail and it is a different number to that. Glad I didn't now as previous posts have said you gett charged each time and there's just silence.
This kind of scam could be pretty easy to fall for. Hate these kind of people -

HMRC has been reported with number 07953222222 as Debt collection company
I have reason to believe I am the victim of a phishing scam from "HMRC". I was alarmed to be informed (via my distressed Wife) that I am in trouble with the Inland Revenue.
Date of call: 29-Oct-2020 11:54 amThe number used: +44(0)7953 222222Content of call: Automated message stating: "This is Officer Sally Owens, from Inland Revenue. The hotline to my division is 0203-992-9989. Do not disregard this message, and call us back. If you do not call us back, or we do not hear from your solicitor either, then get ready to face the legal consequences.".
My wife telephoned 0203-992-9989 and spoke to a Mr Shaun Ward, and was hit with numerous threats, stating there were "3 serious allegations", regarding "breach of rules", "not paying tax return", "cheating", "auditor miscalculations". The threats were coming one after another until my wife had to explain she is a housewife and hasn't worked in over 3 years and that they must mean her husband, giving them my name, it seems, especially as my wife's mobile phone used to be mine several years ago. They then pressed further to her that I am at risk of losing my car and my house as collateral.
When my wife approached me, extremely distressed I might add, I told her that it had to be a scam as I've always paid my taxes. She stated that the number appeared to be directed to the HMRC.
This is extremely distressing, particularly at this difficult time as I am out of work due to IR35 and Covid destroying the job market and am already in financial ruin. Having a call like this, to take advantage of our suffering is beyond contempt. -

I agree with Bunny, I have attempted to listen to a number of voicemails after being prompted by this number and found nothing there but silence. That may not always be the case though and there's only one way to find out. You get charged every time nonetheless.

This number is the messaging from EE. Every time you access they charge you the equivalent of a call, SO DONT CALL! Because it is all a trap by the mobile companies to steal more money from us! AND IF U HAVE A CHOICE, DO NOT CHOSE EE AS YOUR PROVIDER!
