claimed to from BT Openreach they had noticed my internet speed slowing down over recent days(not a BT customer)asked me sign in to laptop so they could help. I then said no as I was overseas and a 5 mile flight away(they had called my landline!!) ORDERED to hold on while I was passed to senior staff so of course I hung up

called to say we had been overcharged on our electricity, wanted to know if we had a cheque book and then our bank details, when told to go forth they hung up only to have them ring back twice.

Called a business mo old phone number of ours. Which had been harvested or bought in bulk. They are now blocked, but our phone screener still shows they tried to call 9 times this morning.
We don’t have washing machines insurance. Scammers.

Washing machine warranty apparently overpaid (I haven't had one!). They were keen to refund me and wanted my bank account details. Strangely, they refused to send me a cheque. Was rudely told to 'shut-up, shut-up, shut-up' when I challenged them.

Woman with East-Asian accent claimed to be from BT and said my internet had been switched from private to public. I asked her how much she was being paid to scam people like this and she didn't back down.

Just called. The man claimed he was from BT Openreach and asked if we had problems with the speed of the internet connection. He was hesitant when I asked him was he really from BT Openreach. So I assume it was not genuine and hung up. I searched on the internet and found this - I was suspecting it was heading this way:-

The scam involves the caller claiming there are issues with the recipient’s internet connection and saying that they need to gain access to their computer to perform tests and fix it. The target is then asked to download an application called Teamviewer, enabling the scammer to gain remote access to a computer – and therefore access to personal files and potentially banking details.
