Sent text asking to pick a time to install a smart meter. Then a missed call from 0333 202 9470. British Gas have already been informed (in no uncertain terms) I do not want/require a smart meter. This agent is either working for or has customer data from British Gas.

carol replied 12/16/20, 11:38 PMi could not understand a word they said put phone down and they was on my message machine they sounded foreign they were talking in there language and a dog was barking it seemed like there was a lot of people in the back ground talking -

Claim they are from British Gas, line is very bad, hissing and static. Could hardly hear them. From what I could make out, they stated they could save me money on bills. But couldn't hear the rest. All other calls I make to family and friends are fine and clear. So I suspect the call originates outside of the UK and routes through a system in this country which explains the poor line quality.

Call to my landline @ 09:14 on Tuesday 16 May 23. Caller asked for me by name and started a long spiel about British Gas Homecare. Once I could get a word in I told her I was not interested. This was followed up about 30 mins later, by a call from 01183150367 with a recorded message asking for a feedback rating. I have reported this separately

Suspect call was for new smart meter. Everyone please note that (despite the number appearing to be UK) the calls actually originate from South Africa where BG's call centre is based...bitter experience!

Caller claiming to be from British Gas wanted to know if i was happy with a recent boiler service visit. They got the date of the service correct so had some B Gas information.
They tried to make an appointment for a heating advisor to visit me and advise on improving my system.
I refused and they were quick to ring off. -

They took ages just to say hello at the start of the call. Sounded like they were having trouble with their equipment to connect to the call. Always a sign of a scam/place using poor tech/both. I said hello three times before they said hello. Caller then claimed to be from British Gas and offered to install a smart meter. They also had my mum's name, so they're likely an ex employee of British Gas that's stolen customer details. Once I said we weren't interested in a a smart meter they hung up without a word. Not what a real company would do. Avoid this number.

This company must be some sort of scam, the dangerous hook is that they are offering a free smart meter install and they start asking you for verification. The reason they aren't british gas is because I don't use british gas for my gas, yet this advisor was happy to assume i was. I think this scam company is playing the long game and building up information about people as they new my postcode but when confirming my address she started to say the postcode for the area where i worked 140 miles away. The only information i gave her was my email. I cannot understand why this scam call centre has not been shut down, looks like they are serious about collecting user data over a long time. I was vulnerable to this call because I have recently moved in and haven't sorted out my inherited utilities properly yet and open to discussing this sort of thing, also when they say 'free smart meter nothing to pay' sort of hooks me in a bit as if this is a safe chat. Be careful.

Got a call to say my smart meter wasn't working and that I needed to arrange for it to be changed. I said okay - then she started asking me to verify my details and I refused saying that she had called me, supposedly from British Gas so I'm not giving her any of my personal information. She got a cob on and told me to call British Gas then and hung up. Rude - just rude - and I have blocked the number.

Sounds like the person was very unprofessional, which is usually a good sign that they are spoofing a company. Would love to hear from @BritishGas themselves, that would give us a lot more assurance of their service quality. -

Call to my landline 14:00 on Fri 23 April 2021. Unable to answer. Heard a recorded message playing during my outgoing message whence caller hung up. Same number called me a few days previously with similat effect.

Called three times. First was saying they were from British Gas. Indian woman. Wanted to book fitting of meter. I said absolutely not. She hung up. Second call rang off.

Began getting calls two or three times a day following boiler service from British Gas. Picked up first time to a silent call, subsequently I've blocked this number but they're still trying to call. Suspect as others have stated it's about smart gas meter installation, but why are they being so insistant? The answer will be that someone, somewhere stands to make money which drives what can only amount to harrassment.
