The caller claimed I could get £40 off my energy bill because I was a good payer. I asked him how he knew and where he was from, and he said British Gas. I immediately told him he was a scammer, and he became abusive, accusing me of being the scammer and insisting I wasn’t the person he was supposed to be speaking to. When I later called the number back, it turned out to be linked to a web design company, confirming my suspicions.
