7 calls in a 12 hour period, and now getting them every half hour. Haven't answered any as they are definitely spam. Very annoying. They should have their license removed - if they have such a thing.

Anon 13 replied 11/5/20, 9:25 AMYou should never on any account phone an unknown number back without checking it out. You really could be calling up trouble for yourself. This particular number is part of the BT Text Messaging service. According to the BT web site, it will show up on your landline if someone with a BT Mobile Contract sent a text to your landline. You can't be scammed just by picking up the phone and listening - just don't do anything else without carefully checking out the introductory message that will be read out to you.Anon 13 replied 12/21/20, 1:47 PMText to landline audio service. Some one sent a text message to your landline and this service is attempting to deliver it.
Many posts attempt to explain what this number is and how to works. Importantly, these (hopefully) helpful posts also explain how the scammers can misuse this this service and how the scams can be avoided. However, these posts tend to be lost amongst the troll posts so anyone genuinely wanting to know what this number is that keeps calling their landline should scroll back over the past few pages to check it out.
Despite warnings that it could happen, these trolls managed to get threads about this number shut down on other sites - and not just once. I still cannot comprehend why anyone would want to cover up posts that explain how to avoid the scams and pick up a message without risk and without cost. Be aware that this service will not screen out a text message that is a scam but the originating number - always advised by the computer when you pick up - will be the scam number to report not this relay service number.
And if you just want to block this annoying number? Well, that information is available as well. Just read back and enjoy! -

Called repeatedly up to 11 last night and started again this morning. Checked number so now I think its BT text service. The call was 'blank' though so no way I could do anything about it. Blocked the number now as it is the only way to stop the calls

Not a scam. It's simply the BT landline text messaging service. If someone sends a text to your landline, or BT has a message about your account, the system rings you and reads the message. It keeps trying to forward the message, so all you need to do is answer and press 1 to listen.

GATSBY reported BT with the number +44845602111 as Trustworthy number
Text to speech to landline translation and relay service number. One of several such systems that delivers audio translations of text messages someone sent to your non-text enabled house phone. This number is owned and operated by BT Openreach which is the largest of this audio text translation services and used by most phone providers and many businesses and organisations. It is related to 08456021111 which is the main number for this service and the 0845602111 number seems to be something to do with the sender being on a BT contract. Most calls will be when someone sends an SMS text to your house phone instead of your mobile by mistake or when you order stuff or make appointments and give your landline number as the contact. Utility companies will also use this service to send messages eg for outages.
The system can't work on answerphones and will continue to attempt to deliver the message between 7am and 10pm. Messages get deleted from the system after 24 hours. Free to answer. There is a small charge to call back. Try sending a test text to your landline. That's what a genuine message from this system sounds like when you pick up. Don't press any buttons on your phone when you pick up. Let the system run on. You will find it reads out the message without your needing to do anything but listen.
None of these audio text services can filter out scam calls so take care. All seem to be able to read out the message without pressing any buttons on your phone and that is uaeful.
